Following its most successful regular season yet, with the team achieving a Club-record points total (48), win total (14), goals scored (47), and highest seeding (sixth) in 2022, Inter Miami has begun confirming its preseason schedule to be fully prepared for the 2023 campaign with what will be the team’s third international friendly in Club history. 2022 standouts such as MLS Goalkeeper of the Year finalist Drake Callender, USMNT World Cup defender DeAndre Yedlin, team captain Gregore, MLS 22 Under 22 midfielder and top assist provider Bryce Duke, and young Ecuadorian striker Leandro Campana are some of the returning Inter Miami players for a thrilling 2023.
Established in 1898, Vasco da Gama is currently enjoying a renaissance, with the team being promoted to the Brazilian top flight after a two-year absence. The “Vascão” sit among the top in the list of teams with most Brazilian Série A titles in history with four, while having racked up other numerous triumphs, including having clinched a CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores title and a CONMEBOL Copa Mercosur title. Additionally, the Rio de Janeiro side has seen some of the finest Brazilian players represent the club’s colors, including 1994 FIFA World Cup winners Bebeto and Romario, and free kick maestro Juninho Pernambucano.
The Brazilian side will call the state-of-the-art Florida Blue Training Center home during their 2023 preseason. The 50,000-square-foot training facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, boasts six natural grass fields and one turf for the development of professional and youth players.
The announcement of the preseason friendly against Vasco da Gama comes on the heels of the Club hosting Colombia’s and Paraguay’s national teams in its facilities for training at the Florida Blue Training Center and a friendly match at DRV PNK Stadium. DRV PNK Stadium will also be hosting the Duelo de Millonarios in January, which will see South American giants River Plate and Millonarios face off in a preseason friendly. Tickets for the Duelo de Millonarios are available HERE. In 2022, the Club’s facilities also saw the United States Women’s National Team host Germany at DRV PNK Stadium after training at the Florida Blue Training Center, while FC Barcelona and Argentina called the facility home-base for a week each as well.
