OnSide returns Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET, featuring another group of special guests. This week, Inter Miami’s own news show, hosted by Kaylyn Kyle and Andres Cordero, will include interviews with Pedro Cavalcanti, head coach for the Inter Miami CF Academy 2007 age group, and a member from each of the Club’s three official supporters’ groups, Maria Garcia-Mella Cid from The Siege, Daniel Castañeda from Southern Legion and Sebastian Moraga from Vice City 1896.
Leading into the Inter Miami CF Academy’s first season, Cavalcanti returned to Miami after 10 years of coaching across the U.S., Europe and South America, most recently with AS Roma. The Brazilian, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and a FIFA Master with CIES (International Master in Management, Law and Humanities in Sport), has held several soccer operations roles on the business side of the sport, including team liaison officer for Colombia’s National Team both for the 2014 FIFA Organizing Committee Brazil and the Copa America Centenario tournament in 2016.
“When Inter Miami became official and MLS was coming to Miami and I had the opportunity to be part of it from the first moment, there was no doubt for me that I wanted to be part of it and help it grow to what I know it will be,” said Cavalcanti. “The entire staff has experience from all over and we work together with this objective of developing players to make it to the First Team.”
“We’re all working together with this idea of instilling a culture that South Florida players can develop to be professional players at the higher level, especially at Inter Miami.”
The final guests – members of “La Familia” – represent the passionate support at the heart of the Club. They chatted with the hosts throughout the “happy hour” segment, covering a number of topics relating to their support of the Club.
“The Club is action, not just talk. You can see it in how it involves the supporters’ groups and how we’re invited to events,” said Garcia-Mella Cid from The Siege. “I had the blessing to go help out with the food distribution. When the Club says it cares about the community, it really cares about the community. Why else would you be out there every Wednesday giving out hundreds of bags of food to people if you didn’t really care about the community? They are following their words with action.”
