The team’s third international friendly in Club history will be the team’s first matchup as part of its 2023 preseason. Fans will have a first look this year at 2022 standouts such as MLS Goalkeeper of the Year finalist Drake Callender, USMNT 2022 World Cup defender DeAndre Yedlin, team captain Gregore and young Ecuadorian striker Leandro Campana.
Vasco da Gama, one of the successful teams in Brazilian fútbol, meanwhile, will take on Inter Miami in South Florida after facing Argentine side Club Atlético River Plate in another preseason friendly at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fla. on Tuesday. Established in 1898, the Vascão is currently enjoying a renaissance, with the team being promoted to the Brazilian top flight after a two-year absence. Vasco sit among the top in the list of teams with most Brazilian Série A titles in history with four, while having racked up other numerous triumphs, including having clinched a CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores title and a CONMEBOL Copa Mercosur title. Additionally, the Rio de Janeiro side has seen some of the finest Brazilian players represent the club’s colors, including 1994 FIFA World Cup winners Bebeto and Romario, and free kick maestro Juninho Pernambucano.
Vasco da Gama has been training at the Club’s state-of-the-art Florida Blue Training Center during their 2023 preseason preparations, becoming the third South American powerhouse to do so this month after River Plate and Millonarios trained at the facilities before their friendly match at DRV PNK Stadium last Saturday. The 50,000-square-foot training facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, boasts six natural grass fields and one turf for the development of professional and youth players.
