With eMLS League Series 1 in the books, Inter Miami’s eMLS athlete IMCF_DonBorrello plans to leverage his learning as he heads to eMLS league Series 2. League Series 2, which begins tonight, marks the second of three tournaments on the eMLS calendar during the competitive 2023 eMLS Season.
League Series 1 in New York City was Borrello’s first-ever LAN event, and he experienced several firsts including his first League win in eMLS and the first LAN win of his young career. The first year eMLS professional, heads into League Series 2 now with a bit of in-person experience on his side to add to his impressive resume that boasts he was ranked among the top 30 FIFA players in North America in 2022.
“After competing in LS1, the nerves are out from playing my first big event,” Borrello said on competing in his first major in-person event. “I’ve been reviewing my gameplay, I’m trying to correct my mistakes and build off of the things I do well. My goals going into LS2 are to close out the games where I’m in the lead, look to get more points on the board and get to that main stage on Sunday.”
Borrello will compete in the remote qualifiers for League Series 2 from his home in Toronto as he takes on 12 opponents in the span of two days, with the event running from 6-9 p.m. ET on Tuesday and Wednesday, before returning to New York City for the main event on Saturday and Sunday.
The results from Wednesday and Thursdays qualifiers will determine Borrello’s seeding for Saturday’s group stage or if he can catapult right to the League Series 2 Main Stage on Sunday. Only the top four players will advance to Sunday’s broadcasted eMLS League Series 2 Main Stage.
The qualifiers and group stage matches will be streamed live from Inter Miami’s Twitch and YouTube channels. League Series 2 will be streamed live on MLS Twitch and Twitter accounts.
