Inter Miami CF II (4W-8L-2D, 14 points) fell 2-0 to Huntsville City FC (2W-6L-3D, 11 points) at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville, Alabama on Sunday night.Â
Miami’s starting XI featured Dos Santos in goal with Nykolas Sessock, Tyler Hall, Farid Sar-Sar, and Cesar Abadia-Reda starting on defense for the Herons; Abel Caputo and Braxton Taghvai-Najib in midfield with Miles Perkovich, Santiago Morales, Lucas Meek in front of them; Lorenzo D’Agostini led the team at striker.Â
The first half began with relatively few shots by both sides, as both fought to control the ball during the first 15 minutes of the frame. Inter Miami controlled the game with 54% possession, but was unable to convert in attack. However, just before the halftime whistle, Huntsville managed to break the deadlock. Huntsville scored its first goal in the 46th minute after an unfortunate deflection placed the ball in the path of Huntsville forward Shaun Joash. Huntsville went into the break with a one-nill edge.Â
Inter Miami came out determined in the second half, looking to overturn the scoreline. The team had an early chance from a free kick in the 46th minute but was unable to find the back of the net. Huntsville City, however, then extended its lead in the 62nd minute through Jonathan Bolanos, who had just entered the game as a substitute. Bolanos' goal increased Huntsvilles lead, ultimately denying Inter Miami II’s bid to secure points.
Next Inter Miami CF II will return home to DRV PNK Stadium, as New York Red Bulls II comes to South Florida for more MLS NEXT Pro action. Kickoff is set for Sunday, July 2 at 7 p.m. ET.
