Inter Miami has recorded three wins, two losses and three draws for a total of 12 points and is tied for second in the Eastern Conference standings. The team will enter this weekend's fixture as the team with most goals so far in 2024 with a total of 16. Attacker Luis Suárez leads the team in goals with five and is tied for the second most goals in the league, while midfielders Diego Gómez and Julian Gressel and attacker Lionel Messi lead the team in assists with four, and are tied for the third most assists in the league.
In its most recent regular season fixture, Inter Miami earned a point with a 2-2 draw at home against the Colorado Rapids on April 6. Familiar Faces
Saturday's matchup may present a series of reunions for members of both sides. Inter Miami players Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Messi and Suárez may once again meet with current Sporting Kansas City defender Andreu Fontàs, who they have previously played alongside and/or faced in their careers. Busquets and Messi were teammates with Fontàs during their FC Barcelona tenures, while Alba playing alongside him for Spain's U-20 national team. All four players - Alba, Busquets, Messi and Suárez - faced Fontàs during their times playing in Spain as well during his time as an RCD Mallorca or Celta de Vigo player.
Additionally, Alba, Busquets, Messi and Suárez may once again face midfielder Nemanja Radoja after previously playing against him in Spain during his time playing for Celta de Vigo and Levante between 2014 and 2022. Lastly, Inter Miami head coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino may reunite with forward Alan Pulido, whom he managed in his time in charge of the Mexican national team.
