Fort Lauderdale CF is set to take on North Texas SC in its last home game of the season at DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will air live on ESPN+.
“I think you’ve got two very talented teams that like to play the ball and create opportunities to score goals so I think you’ll see again a very entertaining match with two teams probing and searching to get goals,” said head coach Darren Powell. “Obviously North Texas has matured along the way with their group and we are still very much in the playoff run. We are still there as we speak today but we’re hanging on by a thread. While we still have that chance we are going to keep fighting till the very end and so I think you’ll see both teams again, very similar to last week, really trying to make sure they win the game.”
Fort Lauderdale CF is looking to continue its positive momentum after last week’s thrilling 4-4 draw against the South Georgia Tormenta. Forward Mitch Curry was named to the USL Team of the Week presented by Cleer Audio for Week 27 due to his incredible performance in the match, registering one goal and one assist. Currently, Fort Lauderdale is the league's top scoring side with 38 goals registered thus far.
This will be the second encounter between the teams in the 2021 regular season. In their previous meeting on April 24, Fort Lauderdale fell 4-2 on the road against North Texas. This upcoming match will mark the final home game of the 2021 regular season for Fort Lauderdale.
North Texas SC is currently seventh in the USL League One table, with a record of eight wins, eight losses and nine draws for a total of 33 points.
