Fort Lauderdale CF returns home for its first matchup of the season against Forward Madison FC and its second to last regular season game on Wednesday, Oct. 14. The match at Inter Miami CF Stadium will kick off at 4 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN+.
“We’ll be facing a new team, I think it's interesting to get to the end of the season and play a team for the first time. It’s a much older and experienced team, so it will be a really nice challenge for us,” said manager Jason Kreis.
Fort Lauderdale CF is coming off of a 1-4 loss on the road against New England Revolution II. The match saw 15-year-old attacker Felipe Valencia score after receiving an assist from 16-year-old winger Edison Azcona; both players are Inter Miami CF Academy products. It was Valencia’s third goal of the season, who is the youngest goalscorer in USL history, and Azcona’s second assist.
Forward Madison FC currently sits eighth in the USL League One table, just one point above Fort Lauderdale CF. The team has compiled a record of four wins, four draws and four losses in 2020 and has been led by midfielder Michael Vang, who tops the team’s scoring chart with three goals and has also registered two assists.
Forward Madison will enter the match undefeated in its past three games, including a 0-0 draw at home against Union Omaha in the team’s last match.
