Heron Talk
Following his first few days of training at Inter Miami CF Training Center, new Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman addressed the media for the first time ahead of the team’s matchup on the road against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. The Dutch shot stopper was confident in the team’s quality and expressed his desire to hit the ground running with Inter Miami.
“It’s good from what I see, the quality is great. We just need wins to get a little extra confidence… I am ready to go. I just want to play and help the team and we need to get those wins, we need to get up and I am here to help. I am looking forward to Saturday,” said Marsman
Marsman also touched upon what he brings to the team after gaining valuable experience throughout his career primarily playing for FC Twente and Feyenoord Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
“I hope clean sheets, but I think I also bring a bit of experience. I am 30 now, so I can provide some stability in the back. I like to talk a lot from the back to my defenders, to the midfielders to make them feel comfortable, to help them in situations, and I am there to catch the ball, I hope you can see that a lot.
“I am a goalkeeper who wants to build up from the back, who likes to be very dominant. I spoke about it with Phil [Neville] before I came here, he was very fond about starting to play from the back. Since I have been here he has also been wanting to do that, to have ball possession,” he stated.
Lastly, Marsman expressed his delight after starting a new chapter of his career in South Florida and meeting his Inter Miami teammates.
“These days have been great… It was very nice to meet everybody, we have a good group,” concluded Marsman. “The boys were off this weekend, so we had dinner together to get to know everybody. For me it’s been great to get to know the guys in the group, to get to know the places, the facilities are great here.”
