Inter Miami CF II forward and Academy product Miles Perkovich has been named as MLS NEXT Pro’s Rising Star of the Matchday for Matchday 22 of the 2023 regular season. The 17-year-old earns Rising Star of the Matchday honors after his stellar performance in Inter Miami’ II’s 2-2 draw on the road against Chicago Fire II on Sunday, Aug. 13.
Perkovich scored a brace in the match, first opening the scoring in the 34th minute through a right-footed finish inside the box following a grounded cross by fellow forward Bryan Destin.
Moments later, he struck again to extend Miami’s lead in the 39th minute; defender Farid Sar-Sar collected the ball before the halfway line before sending a defense splitting ball into space for Perkovich, who took a touch before entering the box and beating the keeper with a tidy shot to the far post to give the team a 0-2 lead. The goal took Perkovich’s tally in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season to three.
This marks the second time an Inter Miami II player has been selected as MLS NEXT Pro’s RIsing Star of the Matchday as defender Cesar Abadia-Reda earned Rising Star of the Matchday honors in Matchday 5 of the season.
