Inter Miami CF II forward and Academy product Miles Perkovich has been named as MLS NEXT Pro’s Rising Star of the Month for the month of August. The 17-year-old earned Rising Star of the Month honors following an impressive standout month where he clocked in 293 minutes, featuring in all five matches in August, three of them starts, and notably, putting up an excelling display in matchday 22, scoring an extraordinary brace on the road against Chicago Fire II on Sunday, August 13.
In the matchday 22 fixture, Perkovich opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a low driven right-footed shot inside the box, coming off a grounded cross from forward Bryan Destin. Minutes later, Perkovich would strike again in the 39th minute to register his first brace as a professional, following a well-placed through ball from defender Farid Sar-Sar before Perkovich beat the keeper and finished smoothly towards the bottom right corner, completing his brace and finishing the night with his third goal of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.
Perkovich made his first appearances for Inter Miami II ahead of the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season, where he featured off the bench against Columbus Crew 2, defeating them 2-0, and FC Cincinnati 2, defeating them 0-1, before making his first professional start against Philadelphia Union II on May 7, 2022. So far this season, Perkovich has played over 900 minutes, making 17 appearances, 11 of them starts, while registering three goals and an assist.
The versatile attacker became the first-ever Inter Miami II player to be selected as MLS NEXT Pro’s Rising Star of the Month, after recently becoming Inter Miami II’s second player to be selected for MLS NEXT Pro’s Rising Star of the Matchday honors this 2023 regular season.
