MLS Announces New League-Wide Initiative to Crown Best Amateur Player, Joins the Copa De La Familia Ecosystem
Inter Miami CF announced today the format for the third annual Copa de la Familia presented by XMANNA, the Club’s fan-favorite event in which fans get the opportunity to battle it out on EA Sports™ FIFA against First Team players on the big screen at DRV PNK Stadium.
Last year, the Copa de la Familia added a new component, the Preliminary Round Tournament that saw fans earn their spot to play against the First Team players at DRV PNK Stadium. The Preliminary Round Tournament consisted of 34 participants and was streamed on the Club’s Twitch channel, with broadcasters Thomas Rongan and Joe Malfa being part of the live-streamed event.
This year, the Preliminary Round Tournament will be replaced by the eMLS Amateur Cup – Inter Miami presented by XMANNA, a league-wide tournament to crown the best Amateur player in North America. The winner of the eMLS Amateur Cup – Inter Miami will play against winners from every other MLS team’s regional winner to crown the best Amateur player in North America and win a trip to the MLS Cup on November 5.
Inter Miami are also offering additional prizes to the winner including a free, customized authentic La Palma jersey, two tickets to a 2023 Inter Miami CF match* and two tickets to a 2023 Player Meet and Greet. The winner, runner up and third place finalist will also receive the opportunity to compete in the Copa de la Familia presented by XMANNA with Inter Miami CF First Team players at DRV PNK Stadium.
The Tournament will take place at the XBTO NW Club at DRV PNK Stadium on October 15, 2022 (subject to change**). If interested in participating, please visit intermiamicf.com/emls.
