The eFriendly will be hosted by Inter Miami digital host Fernando Fiore, a two-time Emmy award-winning broadcaster from Argentina.
It won’t be Carranza’s first virtual competition during the season’s pause due to COVID-19, as he previously participated in Inter Miami’s FIFA 20 tournament as part of Twitch’s Steam Aid 2020, a virtual event that raised over $2.7 million for the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund
Inter Miami has found success in its four prior eFriendlies since the Club’s series kicked off on May 9, claiming victory in all four. Lee Nguyen defeated his former LAFC teammate Mark-Anthony Kaye by an aggregate score of 10-7, then Robbie Robinson overcame his former Clemson University teammate Tanner Dieterich by an aggregate score of 5-1, followed by two Rodolfo Pizarro victories against Mexican National Team teammates, first claiming a 3-2 victory on aggregate against Wolves striker Raúl Jiménez and subsequently defeating Sporting Kansas City’s Alan Pulido with a 7-1 aggregate scoreline.
Inter Miami’s Carranza, 20, is a young striker with a promising future. After developing as a player with the youth teams of Club Atlético Banfield, he made his professional debut for the senior side in an Argentine first division match against Defensa y Justicia on November 24, 2017, at just 17 years of age. During his time with the team from 2017 through 2019, he made 48 appearances across all competitions, including gaining valuable experience by playing in the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana, recording 11 goals and two assists. On July 22, 2019, Carranza became Inter Miami’s second player ahead of its historic inaugural season. On the international stage, he’s featured for Argentina’s U-17 and U-23 sides.
Meanwhile, Everton’s Richarlison is one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players. Overall, he’s registered 26 goals and six assists in 72 appearances across all competitions since joining the club from fellow Premier League team Watford F.C. in 2018. On the international stage, Richarlison has recorded six goals and four assists in 19 matches for Brazil’s national team.
