Inter Miami CF striker and former Landon Donovan MLS MVP Josef MartÃnez has been called up to the Venezuelan national team for its upcoming international friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.Â
In the first friendly, La Vinotinto will match up against Saudi Arabia on Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m. ET at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The second friendly will then see Venezuela face Uzbekistan on Tuesday, March 28 at 2 p.m. ET at King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
MartÃnez has represented the Venezuelan national team 63 times across his career, registering 13 goals and three assists. He started his international career in the youth national teams before making his debut for the senior team in August 2011. Most recently, he has appeared in five matches for La Vinotinto in all competitions in 2022, during which he registered two goals, one in the South America World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay and the other in an international friendly against United Arab Emirates.
The striker, who has started the Club’s first three matches of the 2023 MLS season, will join the Venezuelan national team after Inter Miami’s match against Toronto FC set for Saturday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
