Inter Miami CF defender DeAndre Yedlin has been called up by the USMNT for the team’s upcoming match against Mexico on April 19 in Glendale, Ariz. The right back will be part of the team’s roster for the inaugural edition of the Allstate Continental Clásico, a new annual event that will see the USMNT host a top-tier opponent from North, Central or South America. Inter Miami teammate Drake Callender has been named in the squad as well.
Should he play on April 19, Yedlin would become the 13th USMNT player to earn double-digit appearances against Mexico.
The match will be broadcast live on TBS, Telemundo and Universo and streamed on HBO Max and Peacock. Coverage begins at 10 p.m. ET, with kickoff set for 10:22 p.m. Fans can follow the USMNT on Twitter (@USMNT), Instagram (@USMNT), Facebook and the official U.S. Soccer App.
Additionally, with the selections of Yedlin and Callender, Inter Miami is one of just seven MLS clubs with multiple players on the roster.
Yedlin most recently represented the USMNT at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, making two appearances at the competition. In all, the right back has amassed 77 caps for the USMNT - the most among players on the roster - across several prominent competitions, including two editions of the World Cup, as well as the Concacaf Gold Cup, Concacaf Nations League, Copa América Centenario and more. In that time, the defender has tallied eight assists.
At the club level, Yedlin has continued to be a mainstay in Inter Miami’s starting XI, registering six appearances, all of them starts, in the 2023 MLS regular season to this point. Additionally, in the absence of injured midfielder Gregore, Yedlin has served as team captain in the team’s most recent fixtures.
