Inter Miami CF defender/midfielder Christian Makoun has been called up to the Venezuelan National Team for its upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
The 21-year-old will join La Vinotinto after Sunday’s match against Portland for a string of matches. First, the team will host Brazil on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Estadio Olímpico de la UCV in Caracas, Venezuela. In the following days, Venezuela will host Ecuador on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m. ET. Lastly, the team will travel to Chile to face off against La Roja on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. ET at Estadio Monumental David Arellano in Macul, Chile.
Makoun has been a key player for Inter Miami this season, registering 19 appearances, 16 of them starts, scoring the winning goal against Toronto FC on Sept. 14 and being named to MLS Team of the Week for week 25. He has registered 23 appearances for the Venezuelan youth national teams and he was captain for the team in the 2019 U-20 South American Championship. Makoun could make his debut for the Venezuelan senior national team.
