Following his recent addition to the Club, new Inter Miami CF defensive midfielder Dixon Arroyo was unveiled to media members today at a press conference at DRV PNK Stadium ahead of kickstarting a new chapter in his career.
“I’m happy to be at this great club. It’s a great responsibility and a big leap in my career. Since my arrival I’ve found a competitive team that is ready to fight and win every match… Now I’m here ready to give it my all,” said the Ecuadorian footballer.
“I know the club, I’ve been here at the stadium before with the national team for a friendly and I thought, ‘I really want to play for this club’. Thank God this opportunity arose and I didn’t think about it. I hope to do things the right way and give it my all for the team,” added Arroyo, who for the first time in his career will play outside his country of origin.
Arroyo then detailed his style of play, while at the same time taking on the responsibility that means filling in for the team’s captain.
“I’m a defensive central midfielder, but I adapt to the needs of the team and the characteristics that the team has. I’m here to fill in for the captain and I'm going to work to do my best to win the games and for the team to achieve its objectives… My main characteristic is to recover balls and always have the first pass clear in my mind to go forward so that the team can progress in the game.”
Head coach Phil Neville, meanwhile, was certain about what his new signing will bring to the team.
“I think it's no coincidence that since the injury to Gregore our form has dipped and we’ve been lacking certain qualities in the midfield areas… With Dixon, what we’ve seen in the time that we scouted him and the short time we’ve had him here, is that he adds something to this team as a starter… He’s going to improve the team, he’s going to improve the qualities the team needs to improve, that’s the most important thing,” detailed Neville.
Lastly, Arroyo left a message for Inter Miami’s loyal fanbase.
“Fans will always want us to deliver. I ask them to be patient and trust us, as each player is here to do the best they can for the team. I ask that you always support us and give us that extra boost,” he concluded.
